Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an established, recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body. It is distinctive in the fact that it recognises much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from abnormalities in the function of the body structure as well as damage caused to it by disease. Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures used in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Its main strength, however, lies in the unique way the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint and the manual methods of treatment applied to suit the needs of the individual patient.
Steve Hussey began his academic study of Osteopathy in 1996, graduating from the John Wernham College of Classical Osteopathy in 2000. At this time, he joined the family's private clinic in Bournemouth. He is proficient in treating a wide range of conditions and all ages from babies to pregnancy to the elderly. He is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is fully recognised by many private health care companies including AXA, PPP, HSA and BUPA.
Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy - known as Qi - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin.
Gary Hussey started studying Chinese acupuncture in 1993 and established his own private clinic in Bournemouth in 1998. He is proficient in both types of traditional acupuncture and specialises in auto immune conditions such as ME, infertility and fibromyalgia. Acupuncture is however extremely versatile and Gary regularly treats depression, physical pain, alopecia, gallstones, psoriasis, insomnia, HBP, sinusitis, headaches, menstrual problems, constipation, arthritis, emotional problems, neuralgia and others.
Chiropody

A Podiatrist (or Chiropodist) is a specialist clinician. We assess, diagnose and treat the foot. You do not require a referral from your doctor.
Most (but not all), have studied for three years at university to attain a BSc (Hons) Degree, previously a Diploma) in Podiatric Medicine.
A Podiatrist is trained to diagnose and treat problems of the feet associated with lower limb abnormalities and/or trauma to the foot. This may be a simple or challenging nail condition, athletes foot, corns and callous to bunions or verruca. Other, more complex problems, painful heels, feet or ingrown toenails (which can become infected) can be addressed. Nail surgery with local anaesthesia is available, a simple, permanent solution to this painful often re-occurring condition.
On your first visit, a full medical history is taken and regular medication noted. This is followed by a general assessment of the foot, with emphasis on the presenting problem, followed by appropriate treatment. Subsequent treatments are discussed and planned together. I have a background in the management and treatment of diabetes. If it is advice you seek, I shall do my best to help or refer to those who can.
You will find our clinic a warm, friendly and relaxing place to receive your treatment.
